How we score the Top 10
Every platform gets four editorial scores from 1 to 10. The overall figure is the simple average of the four, rounded to one decimal place, and the ranking is sorted from highest to lowest.
- Library breadthHow many games the platform offers and how wide the mix of genres and sizes is.
- Getting startedHow quickly a new visitor can find something and start playing, including whether an account or install is required.
- Player-friendly termsClarity of refunds, ownership, advertising and account rules as they affect the person playing.
- Device coverageWhich systems and devices the platform supports, from desktop systems to phones and handhelds.
What the scores are not
They are not survey results, traffic figures or user reviews. We do not publish invented statistics. A score is our judgement after using the service, and two careful reviewers could reasonably disagree.
Keeping it current
We revisit the list when a platform changes its policies, catalogue or supported devices in a way that affects a criterion. The date in the footer shows the latest check.
No money involved
Platforms cannot buy a score, a position or a mention. Outbound links are ordinary links without tracking codes.
